2012..We have been warned (and I should have heeded the critics)

I was hyped at the beginning with the flick’s reference to these: Mayanism, Mesoamerican Long Count calendar,  2012 phenomenon, solar flare , wonky Earth’s core begins heating up, California falling into the Pacific Ocean, the eruption of the Yellowstone National Park caldera, shifting of the continents by crustal displacement, Megatsunami..almost everything catastrophic ever predicted except the Second Coming (though the effects are really awesome!) and two words sums up my experience: “Anti-climactic” and too “Hollywood-ish”.

On one end the film centers around the “chosen” cast of characters unbelievably invulnerable to any pain or if I may say, bad luck..as they hurdle different catastrophes racing towards the Tibetan Himalayan Mountains. On the other end are the  scientists and governments of the world some of whom are attempting to save(?) as many lives as they can before the disasters ensue (if you paid $xxx,xxx,xxx.. in advance).

No more spoilers..but if you want to be entertained if the morbid and b-movie side of you itches, then go ahead and watch this flick. DO NOT watch it with your “critic” cap on nor your “biblical/scholarly” cap on. Just sit, relax and enjoy the effects (of a combo flick of independence day, war of the worlds, titanic, etc. sorry can’t help it!)

Havaianas, the world’s best rubber flip-flops, now shares its DNA to the newest addition to their family with the same sense of functional style, these new fashion statements from Havaianas showcase the basic features that define the chic brand. Aside from using the same rainbow of colors as the flip-flops’ palette, the different bag styles are subtly ingrained with distinct Havaianas elements: the rice pattern on the soles and the Greek pattern on the straps are integrated into different details of all the bag styles. Reinforcing the bag’s durability are familiar rubber elements that provide sturdy yet stylish bases, straps and locks. The round rubber buttons used to keep the flip-flops’ soles and straps together can also be found detailing the bags, locking-in the Havaianas DNA. Continue Reading »

One Wall One World Advocacy: (Boysen) KNOxOUT’s air pollution

One Wall One World
“People have kind of accepted air pollution as a fact of life,” notes Ongking. “They feel there’s not much they can do about it, because there really hasn’t been a way for people to clean the air.”

KNOxOUT changes that. It gives people a way to fight back so they don’t feel powerless against air pollution anymore. That’s the idea behind the company’s One Wall One World Advocacy – a way to empower people to be part of the solution toair pollution, and not just being part of the problem.

”Everytime we travel with a motor vehicle, we add things to the air that harm people. Painting a wall with KNOxOUT is one of the only ways to take out the NOx that we put in the air,” he added. “It’s like planting a tree to neutralize our carbon footprint. Now we can paint walls to neutralize our NOx footprint. Every wall is a potential air purifier.”

*More about the product:

KNOxOUT really changes the way you think of paint,” says Ongking. Continue Reading »
