Christmas time and reunions galore: shopping, partying, going around the city with Balikbayan relatives..will definitely recommend Aubergine Restaurant and Patisserie at The Fort. “Aubergine” is the French word for “Eggplant” (Solanum melongena), a large, heavy vegetable, usually pear-shaped and dark-purple.

Their Foie Gras ( I know, I’ve avoided it since my last taste because I deplore the production technique) is what I’m craving for! Do check out this restaurant with your family and friends ( reservations are recommended this season). They have an amazing new menu for Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve plus yummy goodies for Take Out!

Avatar..good thing the 3D effects are awesome otherwise ZZZ!

I couldn’t find the words to explain my experience after watching Avatar so I browsed the net for other reviews and I couldn’t agree more with The Examiner’s review. Plus, I do not recommend this for kiddies..PG-18 is the right rating methinks but that’s just me. The story line is what seems to be the trend nowadays with “alien” flicks like Battle for Terra, Planet 51..you know, humans as meanies invading and taking over their (alien’s) world theme.

However I really liked how they treated the concept of the possibility of making Avatars from human DNA and Pandora’s look from the “beasts”, to the flora and fauna..up to the detail of the “ponytail” which connects every living creature in that planet. But for sure certain religious sectors will frown upon  some scene treatments because it may be deemed as paganism, reincarnation, etc.

Anyway, the 3D effects all thanks to James Cameron’s genius is worth the time spent in the cinema. So go ahead and get to know “Eywa!”

*Saving grace: the special effects are awesome so watch it in 3D to get your money’s worth!

Planet 51..Something strange is coming to their planet…Us!

I must admit Planet 51’s trailer  was a lot of kicks and many especially the kids were waiting for its slated run. But halfway into the flick I realized that “Humans” were treated as the meanies so to speak..well, in a way that is true and seems to be the trend these days with alien flicks.

For me it was an okay flick meaning a good entertainment flick for the whole family. No deep undertones nor heavy merchandising..just pure LOLs! The 60’s theme was reminiscent of Back To The Future (Michael J. Fox era), a great laid out concept which explains  the “pureness” of Planet 51 citizens. Continue Reading »

CENTO is has emerged as a great watering hole..I got drunk in reocrd time and literally rolled haha!

Last Saturday an exclusive albeit informal Christmas party was given to us blogger and media friends by the CENTO group at their VIP lounge. The intimate gathering was filled with delish food: their Italian Sisig is crisp, not oily and and best eaten with rice (yes, we did eat it with rice..try it!); the Calamares are also to crave for and bigger compared to other establishments (I’ve yet to try their famous pasta perhaps on an Acoustic Night ehem!) and drinks galore (the Wuwu plus shooters especially the chocolate flavored one is teh lurve!)*Oh yeah, I’m really raving for this bar because I got drunk in record time..yup, an indication that I enjoyed in less than X minutes upon entering the establishment..AND I literally rolled when I tipped (tipsy much haha!) on the road outside hahaha!
