Trouble-prone Percy Jackson is having problems in high school – but that’s the least of his challenges. I just can’t get enough of Romeo and Bernadette by American writer Mark Saltzman because of so many reasons (story, frocks, set design, music, accent, etc.). But you have to watch it to understand why I’m raving about this Repertory Philippines production. This flick has been on my blog and flick list to check out since September 2009.  The teaser trailers conveyed a romantic-comedy (rom-com)/chick flick boasting of a star-studded cast (Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Anne Hathaway, Topher Grace, Jessica Alba, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner among others) but there’s more.

I dare say its not the usual formula for a rom-com/chick flick aside from the fact that its masterfully directed by Gary Marshall (I still watch and rave for his epic “Pretty Woman” and his role in “Soapdish“), the intertwined stories deals with different and relevant issues at present with regard to how we “celebrate” Valentine’s day. No spoilers here as I always say..take my word for it you’ll not just LOL your heart out but you’ve got to be made of stone-cold steel if you don’t get a few sniffles along the way.

I just came home from a flick review and found out that Lee Alexander is dead (apparently hanged in  his London home; no information “in terms of circumstances.” ). He was described as “the genius of British fashion”; LVMH, Bernard Arnault caused a stir when he instated McQueen as head designer at Givenchy in 1996, succeeding John Galliano;  in 2001 partnered with Gucci Group acquiring 51% of the company while as Creative Director; Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Bjork, Rihanna and Lady Gaga are some of the celebrities which have donned his theatrical, controversial and shocking collections. He just turned 40, his mother has passed away last February 2  and his death came days before London Fashion Week, although he was not scheduled to show in the British capital. Fashion guru Isabella Blow, who helped launch McQueen ‘s career, also committed suicide almost three years ago.

Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.

A tragic loss not just for the British fashion world..God bless his soul.
