Nightmare on Elm Street (2010): Never Sleep Again

NightmareOnElmStreet2010Poster-1

I’m not one for horror or suspense flicks but this was based on a classic. Less than five minutes into the flick and you’ll be jumping in your seat peeping over covered eyes. This version gave another background as to why Freddie haunts though if my memory serves me right, its a totally different story from what I grew up with.

Truly not for kids because of its blood and gore and even grown ups have shuddered but all in all I say its a good flick. The storyline was consistent, the graphic portrayals are so realistic and yes, it smells of another sequel.

“A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.”

The Last Song (2010)

last song_dad

At first I thought The Last Song (2010) was another teenage chick flick but five minutes into the story proved me wrong. Clearly this flick tackled relationships between parents and their children, teenage sweethearts, friends and their secrets, etc. and it was magnificently intertwined to a bitter sweet end.

The part when Miley wanted to protect the baby turtles might seem injected just for cuteness sake but for me it was symbolic of how people want to protect relationships. You may build a fortress around it, but then there will be no room for growth nor freedom. We cannot protect our loved ones because we are not in control of everything. We just have to learn to savor life at present and hope for the best.

I highly recommend this for the whole family to watch especially those who have teenagers..an indirect way to learn and how to deal with teenage angst and to understand parents as well.
