I thought the holidays this year will be  a bit gloomy because a few dear loved ones has boarded the ship of no return. Each departure hurt but we have to move on.

I guess people cry not because they’ll miss their loved ones but its the cold reality that we are left behind.  Oh well, that’s why whenever we have reunions (be it a birthday party or simply bumped into each other or even texted), now we always say, “See you later/soon”..coupled with prayers.This year I did not “document” so much because I said to myself, I should savour each moment as much as I can.

This year has been incredibly miraculous to say the least. We finally moved to our refurbished home which is also our medium to help the community. But that Ondoy experience with my sister Ate Mabelle, our cousin Ate Fely has even deepened my faith and resolve that what is truly important is not tangible. And that truly with God nothing’s impossible!

Truth be told, since our parents went ahead me and my sister regarded each “elder” (lolo/lola, tito/tita, kuya/ate) as surrogate parents. Of course there are moments wherein we have differences in opinion..but hey, that’s why its called a “family”!

Anyway, I enjoyed the holidays not because of the hectic social schedule of shopping, cooking (well, I got to cook my asparagus con bacon hehe!), gift-giving, costumes/themes, etc. but I enjoyed the simple stuff. The children’s Christmas parties, the Christmas mass at our home, the time everyone’s loading/loaded in the cars, the  grocery/hardware trips, the meal times when everyone’s at the table, the games (OMG charades is now the family rave!)..and my favorite, when everyone’s asleep all bunked and bundled just like when we were tots at Grandmum’s house (err, I’m an insomniac and the last to tuck in okies hehe!).

Anyhoo, I think everyone even the Scroogiest of ‘em all do think about their family and what has transpired within the past year. I am definitely very garteful for the infinite blessings, the miracles I’ve witnessed, the angels I’ve met..adn my family.
