A couple of weeks after my first time at Newport Malls Cinemas, Resorts World Manila, I got another invite and this time this was for a much-awaited flick, Despicable Me (2010). Twas a Sunday invite so definitely my sister and cousin was at the top of my list. We trooped to Newport Mall, Resorts World Manila and *i’m-not-ashamed-to-admit* I jumped for joy right at the Cinema 3D’s lobby because aside from the kids party theme (you know, balloons, sweets and all) I saw Gru’s minions (Tim, Bob, Mark, Phil and Stuart..only saw two and yes, took photos with them hehe!)

I’m a sucker for kids flick more so if its in 3D but the trailer of Despicable Me did not strike my fancy at first. I found it a bit “dark” for lack of a better word. Or maybe I was just used to watching kids flick detached from reality which is not how it is today (much to parents chagrin, but for me its better so kids can be realistic at their age) Benefit of the doubt, researched on the internet and found the story, background and animation to my liking. Aside from Gru and his minions, I really love the orphan girls (Margo, Edith and Agnes). No spoilers here, all I can say is that its a realistically heartwarming flick worth dragging the whole family to the theatres. Speaking of theatres, I highly recommend Newport Mall Cinemas (Cinema 3D), Resorts World Manila. They have these fabulous amenities which are really world class and their staff makes you feel more than a VIP!
