Our Lady of Manaoag (formally: Nuestra Señora del Santissimo Rosario de Manaoag, literal translation: Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of Manaoag) and me

A blessed day indeed! My cousin, Ate Fely informed me this afternoon that Mama Mary will be visiting our home again. Might be the reason I canceled everything today..prayed thank you in silence. After a few hours my sister, Ate Mabelle entered after the regular feeding program held at our house and reiterated the information with an added exciting detail..it was not the image of the Our Lady of Fatima again, but the Our Lady of Manaoag plus an overnight vigil and mass at 5:00 am.

Brief History:

Around 1610, a native man who was walking home heard a Lady’s mysterious voice and was surprised to see a luminous Lady with a Rosary on her right hand and a Child on her left standing on a cloud atop a tree. The man knelt and later told the people of the apparition. A church was built in the apparition’s site and the community was called “Manaoag” rooted from the Virgin’s call, thus the term, “taoag” meaning “to call”.

The hilltop shrine of the Our Lady of Manaoag and the image was canonically crowned by his Holiness Pope Pius XI on April 21, 1926. She celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of her coronation on January 1, 2000.

Prayer:

“Virgin Mother of God, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, thou, who has chosen to raise thy throne of mercy in Manaoag,to be the beloved protector and patron of the province of Pangasinan, and therefore to bestow thy graces on us, thy children banished in this valley of tears, look down with thine eyes of mercy upon me, who am beset with so many dangers of body and soul. Despise not my petition, O dearest Mother, but intercede for me before thy Divine Son now and at the hour of my death. Amen. Virgin of Manoaog, pray for us.” ( Ask your favor, then pray 3 Hail Mary’s and 3 Glory Be’s)
