Sagip Buhay..providing assistance to indigent patients

Intended primarily as a drug bank that provides indigent patients with medicines, the Dept. of Medicine of the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH), held fund raising projects to help beyond the free drug samples. After all, the indigent patients need more than just medicines..hence the birth of the Sagip Buhay Medical Foundation.
They also offer diagnostic work-up and life-saving medications. It is composed of seven medical teams including the medical ICU with a PhP. 1.5 million subsidy covering the services (cover blood tests, X-rays, IV fluids, and urgent medications).
Charity patients are top beneficiaries, those whose illnesses may be reversed or cured by the requested drug with good over-all long-term prognosis; who have exhausted all other means of financial support; and, who have culture-proven infections with sensitivity results or antibiotic prescriptions approved by the infectious control committee.
They also support the medical training of students, interns, residents, and fellows to further enhance the quality of services for patients confined in the hospital.
