Thank You Pres. Cory Aquino..May your soul rest in peace
The Philippines’ former died at while her family was with her praying the Rosary. Flags are in half-mast, the present President announced today as a national day of mourning and the start of a ten day mourning period, people are flocking to Edsa Shrine, public viewing at La Salle Greenhills has just been announced..Filipinos are in shock despite the fact she had been suffering from colon cancer for a year and six months now.
My memories of the 1986 People’s Power Revolution are not happy because I was simply brought up as a Marcos baby. The countless protests leading to the Edsa Revolution were for me then was just senseless or downright stupid. Going home from school became walking sessions since the rallies almost always hamper the transport modes (protesters burning old tires and one time one of our family vehicles’ windshield was smashed by a protester who threw a big rock) and made our family’s small businesses difficult to keep afloat.
But even after presidency I saw how simple and positive she has lived her life. Her , her prayerfilled convictions especially when she asked the present President to step down after the and up to the most trivial fact that she repeats to wear some of her clothes in her signature shade of yellow.
At present I am very grateful to her because of the freedom we Filipinos enjoy which much to the chagrin of some who take it for granted. I blog almost daily free from fear..but freedom or any right for that matter has its limitations. Everyone has a reponsbility with what they blog, no exceptions. Nonetheless, for this freedom to express, to share thoughts, to empower, to influence..thank you.
I’ll end with one of my favorite quote she shared which serves a reminder everytime I encounter a negative opinion, situation or person: “Even before, Ninoy used to say, in this world, there is somebody who is your complete opposite that would challenge you and bring out the best in you.” – Pres. Cory Aquino
, cheers for a life well lived and may you now truly rest in peace. Godbless! =]
